Foods High in Iron

Many times we neglect natural source nutrition which should come directly from our meals and snacks, and not necessarily from health supplements. Iron is a great example because too much iron as a supplement is not..... more

good and can be harmful to children. Multi-vitamins with iron are not recommended for children because of the danger of iron poisoning.

Natural sources of iron rich foods like dark green vegetables, collard greens, broccoli, are the best way to intake iron in your diet. Limited quantities of red meat may be acceptable, but more and more research is showing that red meat in related to cholesterol build up in the blood. Making sure your bad cholesterol is reduced yet increasing your iron intake naturally points to vegetable sources of iron. An iron supplement may be suitable but please consult your doctor first.

Fiber foods and a good fiber/fibre diet is always important to remember no matter what diet system you are trying.

Some seafood may be a source of iron and fresh seafood is always the way to go when you can get it from a seashore market or fishing boat. A fishwich doesn't qualify as fresh seafood!
